Next Time-lost book

 Emergent is the next Time-lost book. It's slated to come out after the Alliance book.

The cover is done. Here's a preview.

It's set after Resurgent. 

Captain Meghan Littwin is Sara's sister and captain of a very special space ship. The conspiracy that Sara uncovered has far more reach than just one planet and 'Litty' is in the middle.  

The Cren are ancient enemies of humanity. Humans are little more than cattle to them. Their Gambit failed on one planet but they are playing the long game.

Thus begins Emergent.

Now status

The Amazon ad is done.

Had some reads. I had 10 keywords but only two got any hits. Need to come up with some words before I try another ad.

I thought the book would sell as sci-fi is popular. Perhaps I'm right about the name turning people off. With everything that's been going on maybe the name brings negative connotations.

Emergent is slated to come up after the next dragon book. It's already a third of the way done. I'm still working on the Bible of course. They're never done till the book is.

Amazon ad

I set up an Amazon ad for Resurgent.

Only one sale. Jan. She wrote a review. She always buys my books and leaves a review. I wish everyone was good as her about leaving reviews.

$5 spent but no sales yet. No reads either.

I'm worried about the name. Maybe it's turning people off. With all that's happening maybe that name is bothering people? I don't know. Maybe it's just a late bloomer.

I'll see. I got 6 days to go yet.

Meanwhile maybe I'll think of an alternate title. Though I choose this one with care. The whole series titles really.  Or at least these first three that I have started.

Book is out!

Resurgent is published.

Both ebook and hardcopy. I just splashed it all over my FB groups. Free with Kindle unlimited and $2.99 regular. Hardcopy is $7.99. 

I set up an Amazon ad. But only for a week or so. I only have 3 keywords. I don't know what to put. I'll see how this ad goes.

Authors love feedback. So if you read please review.

Proof

Proof is being proofread. Looks good to me. Wanted it simple the cover. I read through it and didn't see anything wrong but then I wouldn't. :)

So hopefully it will be out by the end of the month. I got the FB post ready to go. And I plan to have a Amazon ad. Since it's a sci-fi book it might sell better. We shall see.

Next book is ready to start. I have the cover done as well. So Emergent is a go whenever I want.

I got a supernatural mystery and an Alliance book to get out before I do the second book of either time-lost or Fallborn. The plot bunnies are ruthless. They all want time but I can't do more than two books at a time or I lose concentration and nothing gets done.

Just how I wanted.

Sharon should get her copy tomorrow. Then she can find a proofreader. Two more steps til release.

Thoughts

I should get the proof Monday or Tuesday.

So it should be out by the end of the month. I plan to have a Amazon ad as soon as I can.
I think it will stir up interest at least. Sci-fi may stir up interest of its own.

I got a FB post ready for the groups. I really don't know if posting in the groups help. It seems only writers go there and most of them don't read or buy. 

We're obsessed with our own book or have sacrificed reading for writing. I read only specific writers besides writer's digest myself.  I have read two books by Springfield Missouri authors and liked them but I'm not an adventurous type.  I stick with my try-and-true authors.

Money is also a consideration. If the Kindle is over$2.99 I won't get it. I'll pay more for a hardcopy if the shipping is free or at least reasonable. But I don't have a money tree in my backyard. And a fixed income leaves little wiggle room.

Proof is ordered

Resurgent is uploaded and proof ordered. So I should have it by next week.

End of July maybe for release. Depends on how long it takes to proofread the book.

I can't wait to hold it in my hand. Just something about a hardcopy in hand that stirs up the excitement.

Signing idea

I decided to write a saying in the language that the Ilan language derived from.

Maim hara Gaya hum!

Then sign and date.

Do you think that's a good idea?

 To leave the reader guessing a bit. If they ask about it I would just say it is from the language Ilan originally came from. And let them look it up if they choose.  A bit of mystery.

While I was messing around with languages I looked at Gaelic. The Irish and Scott's had demon gods too. And the people of Greenpeace live in Clans but I went with my original plan though I added Irish and Scott's bits. It wouldn't be inconceivable that the two peoples mixed when they decided to colonize.

Sharon hasn't gotten to Resurgent yet. She's been working on another book that's been taking a while. She said that mine is next.

Status

Sharon says today or tomorrow she should be working on my sci-fi book Resurgent. So she'll correct and upload by Wednesday.

Then I can order the proof.

So July.

I looked at Emergent's cover again. I still like it for the book.

All my covers have a look for each series. If you look at my older books you'll see what I mean.

I still have the three books open. But I'm leaning more towards the Alliance book right now. However I might just work on all three for awhile.

Status now

New first chapter was looked at and returned. Sharon is going to correct the book as soon as possible and upload.

So I'll be ordering the proof soon.

I've worked a bit on Emergent.  Introduced the characters. Gave a hint of the plot.

Still not sure which story I want to be next. Though the Alliance book bunny is kicking up a ruckus. The other two are just thumping right now.  I'm thinking about writing on all three for awhile until one jumps ahead.

Next

Resurgent has been returned.

The readers said that the beginning was slow until chapter two. So I dropped the prologue and first chapter. Added a bit to the new first chapter, then sent it back.

So has to be looked at again

Then it will be on to the next step.

This should be out by the end of the month if I don't have to make anymore corrections. That is dependent upon when I can get the proof and look that over. So maybe I should say by end of July. Just to be safe.

Tat

Resurgent is still being proofread.

Emergent is ready to be worked on. It takes place after Resurgent and Segways into my Sacrim series. But I'm not sure when I'll get to that series.

But I might write the first book in the Alliance series next. I did its cover.

Maybe I'll open all three series next books and just work on them all. That way I can satisfy all the bunnies. :)

Though I want to finish the Elemental Voice series too. At least the last main book. The companion series and Mortal Voice series is on hold.

The new books are written in a different style than my other older books. So be warned if you decide to read the older books.

Just a thought

I saw a picture that got me thinking about my Alliance series.

Maybe I'll work on it a bit.

I love that universe and Fiona wants to talk.

And that series bunny is like Thumper right now. So I may do a little work on it for appeasement.

Status on Resurgent

The book is being proofread. 

So it's still a few steps away from publishing.

Cover I made. Simple but attention grabbing I think.

I design my own covers and usually make them on Canvas.com. My publisher usually tightens them up for me.

So waiting game again.

I'm messing around with Emergent and The Dragon's Keeper right now while I wait.  But I'm not really working on them seriously. Marketing is on the agenda next

Amazon ads to be specific.

I'll talk about Emergent and about the ads next time.

Did a little editing on Emergent.

I have both Emergent and Keeper open to work on. I slip from one to the other when I get writer's block, hoping to break it.

Sometimes it works.

I read my weekly writer's digest Monday post last Sunday.  It's on my author page on FB.  I'll look for next week's post this weekend.

I found some nice pictures for covers on Pixabay. I've been playing with Canvas.com making covers for the next books. It's the most enjoyable thing next to writing "the end" :)

So Emergent and the book after that have covers now. And I have pictures to choose from for more.

So this has been a very productive week.

Resurgent

So it's at the publisher's.

Next step is an editor/proofreader.

The cover as you can see is done.

The next book in this series is Emergent. I have the first few chapters started. The cover is done also.

But after Resurgent I'm doing another dragon book. Though I will be messing around with Emergent as well. I usually have two books open at the same time. However I usually don't finish them both at the same time.

Once Resurgent is published I will try to keep you up-to-date with sales and marketing. I'm going to try something different with my books this time.  Ads.

So stop by and see what happens.

Off to the publisher's

This weekend I sent the sci-fi book to publisher's. So it's on the next step, proofreading.

So the waiting game again.

Next to the actual writing waiting is the hardest part for me. I'm part of the now,now, now generation I guess. :)

Done at last, at last.

Well rewrote the beginning and end.

I think it flows better.

So I spell checked it. Didn't realize how many alien words I used until then. Names too.

That's done.

Now just got to read through one more time before sending it to publisher's.

Also need to fix cover for it. Add the subtitle. Enlarge print. The basic cover is done as you've seen but now the touchups.

And the blurb. Got to get a hook for it. Not sure yet what but I got a while before I publish.

So I'll celebrate tonight with pie and ice cream instead of just one or the other.

Well I'm done.

I finished the last chapter of my sci-fi but didn't like the ending so I'm redoing it.

So I guess I'm not really finished.

I'm redoing the beginning and the end. After that I'm editing and spell checking. Then sending it off to the publisher's.

I just don't like the beginning. Not enough of a hook. And the first sentence doesn't have any flair. Want to hook from the first.

As to the ending I think it needs a bit more.

I'll work it out.

The book should be ready to publish by the end of the month. So it should be out by July.  If not before.

My dad has got projects for me to do this summer. So that's why the rush on these books. And because I had planned to reveal them at the BTP Con.

I'll have to work on another book this winter for 2021 BTP Con.  Something to keep me busy during the cold days.

Words Worth 9

I hit the 38,000 mark today.

I'm over 2/3 done.  So I'm in the homestretch.

I predicted 40,000 and I think that's what it will be or close enough.

Yesterday I did a bit of editing on my dragon book and sent it back. It's on the next step. It might be out by middle of May, maybe sooner.

The sci-fi book should be done by then. At least the first draft. Then I edit. And edit.

Dream book

I was watching "magic beyond words: the j.k. Rowling story" on DVD.

That is every writer's dream.  Publish a book that shoots off like a rocket.

I'd probably have a heart attack if that happened to me. I'd be so shocked. I know I'm not a j.k. Rowling or a Steven King but I would like enough to make it money wise worth publishing. I want it to pay for itself with a little extra to buy extras.

I'm a realistic person with dreams. :)

My dad thinks it's a waste of money. I'm not even breaking even. I'm usually so far in the hole I can't see any light.  This last year  I had to get a referbished computer as my last died so I didn't market or publish but still spent money that I didn't have.  I'm going to publish two books this year so more money.  Dad doesn't know that I'm spending money to publish.  Good thing he doesn't know about this blog.

My caseworker and aunt think my writing is good for me. I use it as therapy. And to get this stuff out of my head. It's crowded in there.  :)

So my dream book would steadily rise then level off. Staying popular and leading to readers buying steadily from me each time I publish.  I don't need to be an overnight sensation just an author with a steady following.

Words Worth 8

Did a little over 1000 words.

About a page a day.  I'm still reading a book a day as well so I figured that's why.

I get into these reading jags and can't seem to put a book down. :). Pun intended.

Anyway I work a little on the sci-fi during the afternoon. Usually get a page written then my mind drifts to what I want to read that evening. So I looked at my Kindle library and spend an hour deciding which one I want. Then I look at new free books.

So I wiyl away the rest of the afternoon on FB and Amazon.

These jags usually don't last long so I'll be back to regularly scheduled writing soon.  Meanwhile I'm getting some writing done.

The book is well over half way done. I'm at the homestretch. Unless something changes I should be done before middle of next month. Well, depends on how the editing goes.

My editing.  Once it gets turned in it will be edited again.

So really the sci-fi book is coming along nicely. It is definitely different style then my other books.

Words Worth 7

Only did a little over a 1000 words since the last entry.

I've been reading Kindle books. Catching up on my reading. I'm usually so caught up in my head with my writing that reading falls behind.

With the move, I got rid of some of my books and movies. I don't have much room for physical books so I've had to get Kindle to read off my phone.

But I'm getting some writing done.  About a page a day right now.

Something is simmering in the back of my mind and I'm letting it.

Words Worth 6

Just a few words shy of 30,000.

I'm a little over half way through, though I may only get 40,000 words this draft.

This book is coming along nicely. I'm fitting in the scenes and moving towards the end.

The beginning will need some finessing. I wrote it a long time ago and just worked from there. Added the scenes and filled in between. I'm on the fill between the third and fourth scenes, then I'll be on my way to the end. Though I need to change a bit of the fourth scene.

As I said I'm doing this book a bit different than the others. They were written as if they were movies: fast paced and action packed. This book is written more in depth.
There is still action and a moving pace but more character.

Hopefully y'all will like it.

Words Worth 5

Over the 27,000 mark.

Didn't write for two days cause I was reading a book. A mystery.

But I'm back to writing on the sci-fi. Starting a new chapter again. She realized that the battle is bigger than she imagined. The Cult is not the only one she must fight.

I'm a pantser. So when I write I'm not sure how long the book will be. I write until the story is done. Sometimes this makes for a short book. Or what the industry calls short. 

I think this book will be about 40,000 words when I'm done. Then I edit and flesh out some before sending it to publisher's.

At least I have something to do during this time. I'm so glad I got my computer back.

Though I do have enough movies to watch for a month.

Bit of status

Hit the 25,000 mark on words yesterday.

Rounding the corner and heading toward the homestretch. Will be a bit muddy but should make it through.

All this social distancing is giving me the opportunity to work on the sci-fi book. Had two ways to go and worked out the direction so I should get some done today.

I also played a little bit on Canva.com where I do my covers. Helps to relax me. Keeping the same cover but I played around with other pictures and it reenforced that that cover is what I want to go with.

My dragon book is in the publisher's hands. So that's on the next step. I also have a cover for it done.

So that's where I sit right now.

I'm over 22,000 words.

One major fight is done and not all to her credit, so she has another to go before she can claim any victory. The Cultists have powerful lies on their side while the truth is disruptive to the present regime.

So half way through.

She has a hard time ahead because even if she wins this fight there's still the battle to win.

And all is not fair in war.

I decided to use a pen name for my sci-fi series.

It's the first and last initial of my three names. I used it when I wrote fanfiction.

I'm at over 18,000 words.

Chapter eleven.

So just past a fourth of the way through. I'm hoping to get to 40,000 for this book draft. I'll flesh it out and edit after I get to the end.

Book 1 not

Book one is actually not book 1.

It is really  book 4 of the ones I have planned right now.

But it's the one I had ready to write. I had over 8,000 words done  and the bible started.  I also had the cover picture chosen. However I didn't have a proper title. Just a working title

Book 5 has 6,000 words. I almost started with it.

Words Worth 2

I'm over 15,000 words in.

Still a fourth of the way through.

Worked a bit on the bible, then wrote a page in the story this morning. I plan to write a bit tonight before bed.

The story is coming along nicely. Though it's a bit different than what I normally write.

This series is a bit of a departure for me.

Backstory of book 1

Seventy years ago a holy war between the Church and the group called The Death Cult ended with the genocide of an entire planet.

The Death Cult seem to vanish from history after that atrocity and the Church went on to help thousands of other planets become members of the Federation.

But the Death Cult was only bidding time and making plans for a resurgence. They have chosen their first planet to start that resurgence but they hadn't planned on another resurgent.

Sara was a time-lost and had been present during the holy war. She wasn't about to let another war like that take place again.

And this time she had some advantages she hadn't had last time.

Words Worth

I'm a fourth of the way through the book.  It's coming along nicely.

There's some action and some contemplating going on so far. As I said before this is a different style than my other books.

I wrote over a thousand words yesterday and going on 700 today so far.

I plan to have it done by June.

Just wanted to let you know how it's going.

Next part of the background story

After the war with the Cren, the Laren had to account for the remaining humans. The humans would not be able to go back to their old lives so the Laren gave them a choice between staying in the past with them or being dropped off in a time and place of their choosing.

Only a few of the remaining humans became time-lost. Those that stayed were lost to the sands of time in another way when the Laren disappeared.

But that's a story for another time.

The time-lost spread themselves out but time has a way to make things relative.

• They had changed the past and now they would change the future 

More of the story

The Laren a technologically advanced race was in a war with a warrior race. They were losing as they did not have the same mindset as the Cren.

So they scowlered the universe for a warrior race that with a little help from them could defeat the Cren.

And they found them.

Humans

But they didn't want to interfere with humans natural development.

So they kidnapped some. A freighter full to be exact.

One human strategily placed could change the outcome of a battle.

Especially when they have advantages.

And so the time-lost were created.

How they came to where they are now is a story for another time.

The story

The time-lost series is a set of books set around the event of a space freighter going missing and some of the passengers showing up unaged decades later or in unusual places.

Each book reveals Abit more about the disappearance and the aliens that caused it. The books tell the who, what, and why as well as leading to an even bigger reveal.

The main character of each book has a part to play in that big reveal.

My main characters are all women but these are not romances though sometimes there is a bit of romance. But the main story is really an action/drama.

There are five books in the series so far though I have a book that bridges between this series and the series that follows the big reveal.

New book series

I'm a writer and this is to be a blog about a new series I'm starting.

I have two other blogs that I'm going to be linking to this blog right now. I may add another when I get to writing my other series.

This series is called the Time-Lost. The characters are linked through a common experience but are different in each story.

The first book I'm working on is untitled right now. I will go through the experience of writing it on this blog.

I have five books planned for this series. Each has a basic idea and a first chapter written.

This series is sci-fi, a divergent from my urban fantasy books. I also used a different style of writing for it.  So if you have read my other books and didn't care for the style you should give this one a try to see if you may like this style.

I usually update blogs once a week.  I may try a different style with this blog. I don't know yet.

Just wanted to let you know the basics of the blog. Next time I may do the basics of the book.
